This is so boring&#8230;\u00a0So let&#8217;s start to blog:-)<\/strong> According to The Phrase Finder, humble pie is a play upon words which dates back to the time of William the Conqueror. First, the pie referred to in &#8216;eating humble pie&#8217; was really umble pie, made from the umbles &#8211; heart, liver and gizzard &#8211; of a deer. It was made to be eaten by servants and huntsmen, while the lord of the manor and his guests dined on venison. Thus a person who had to eat umble pie was in a position of inferiority &#8212; one who had to humble himself before his betters. The pun resulting from umble and humble is even more precise when you recall that in several British dialects &#8211; notably Cockney &#8211; the h in humble would be silent. Actually, the two words come from quite different roots, humble from the Latin &#8216;humilis'(low or slight), and &#8216;umbie&#8217; from the Latin &#8216;lumulus&#8217;* (loin).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Humble Pie were a rock, rhythm and blues band from England and were one of the first supergroups of the 1970s. The original band line-up featured Steve Marriott (former lead singer, songwriter and lead guitarist of Small Faces), Peter Frampton (former lead singer and guitarist of The Herd), Greg Ridley (former bass guitarist of Spooky Tooth) and seventeen-year-old drummer Jerry Shirley. Although successful in America, as a band, they remained much loved in Britain. They are best remembered for their dynamic live concert performances in the early 1970s and songs such as &#8220;30 Days in the Hole&#8221; and &#8220;I Don&#8217;t Need No Doctor&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Humble_Pie\" src=\"https:\/\/old.istitutobrunofranchetti.edu.it\/giornalino\/wp-content\/humblepie.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Good Appetite!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nobody writes!
