Comments from appalled 2nd years from the Bruno – Franchetti

Student 1: On Friday night 13th of November some ISIS Jihadis killed 129 people and hurt 350.
But why did they kill them? As an explanation some people mention religion, namely Islam. In fact the members of this organization of Muslim extremists say that they want to create an Islamic state by killing all those who don’t believe in their God.
I think that the main reason is geopolitical. France, together with Britain, has decided to join the bombing of the ISIS locations in Iran after the terrorist attack of January 2015 in Paris.
But who are the Jihadis from ISIS? The acronym means “ Islamic State of Iraq and Syria”. It is an armed organization of extremists. They preach the Jihad against infidels, interpreting the spiritual struggle as holy war, because according to them the Koran speaks about “cutting the throats” of those who are not believers. To stop them the solution is not a war. Reacting with violence to violence will start an escalation of violence with a very high number of victims among the civilians. From my point of view, considering what they do, Jihadis aren’t people you can speak to. That is why we must not lower ourselves to their level.
On the other hand we must, at the same time, try to find a solution to this terrorism, because it isn’t right for every citizen of the world to live in fear and anguish, feeling that today might be the last day of their lives.
We must, however, intervene as soon as possible by raising awareness, spreading education and culture so that people are not influenced by the beliefs of the Jihadis from ISIS. We have to do this before it is too late!
Student 2: I think that what happened is terrible. People, killing other people…terrible. By now the world has become a prison. We live in a prison. I wonder: ”how can these things happen?”
The world is at war. I’m afraid. I’m afraid of all these things. I fear that terrorists go all over the world and change it. Change it for the worse.
I love my family, my friends…I don’t want that to change. I would like to stop everything now. We must do something. We must stop those people who kill other people. We must stop this war.
Students 3 and 4: Jihadis are manipulated and are set to do bad things, because it is impossible for a person so young like some terrorists in Paris to feel a hatred so big inside themselves. For us this could be the beginning of World War III, because at the moment there is too much violence and without a real cause.
Student 5: I’ve got no words to write about what happened in Paris last Friday night and I can’t do anything because I’m still a child. One thing, however, we can do all of us: to pray and fight this kind of people…but, honestly, are these people?
