I think that being elected US President is becoming the most powerful person in the world, that is what Barack Obama is to be. He will be the 44th US president, and the first Afro-American, which is a really big change for his country; another change for the United States consists in the fact that Obama comes from the democratic party, unlike George Bush who was supported by the republican party like Obama’s competitor John McCain.
I know that in America, actually all over thee world, many people (above all Afro-Americans or foreign people) cried when Obama election was made official; they expect many things from the new president, maybe they think that Obama will take care of them, of their problems, of their poverty. What I think is that the new president will obviously try to take care of each and everyone. As he said in his political campaign communicating a very patriotic message: he will focus on the family, on its values, and above all on the United States.
Today he proclaimed his first decision: 5 million jobs granted by green energy (it means no pollution); it sounds that Obama is starting his task very well, everyone hopes that he will continue in this way, but I wonder: “Who knows? We will see”. At the moment I hope he won’t start new wars but he will turn into a “peacemaker”, because in my opinion he is the man who can make the difference.

I WANNA VOTE! I liked Obama because I thought that an Afro-American man is more humble: he knows the sufferings of discrimination and injustices, so he can really fight to defend people’s rights and he knows no one is superior and no one can subdue other people. And also, we know that some Americans were very racist (because the coloured mans were originally imported as slaves), and they considered themselves belonging to a better race. So, an Afro-American who succeeds in his great purpose, becoming the President of United States, is certainly a strong and clever person! I admire him for what he has become, the first black US President!
I also think that European people, and maybe also Chinese and Japanese, should vote to choose the USA. president. I think this because American policies (first of all on matters of economy and finance) influence lives a lot our, so we should have the opportunity to express our preferences.

WE ARE WAITING FOR FACTS – Yes, it’s true! For the first time in the story an Afro-American man will be the president of United States for the next four years. On 5th November 2008 Democrat Barack Obama gained the White House and became the 44th president of U.S; he will start his law warrant next 20th January 2009.
His famous slogan is “Yes, we can”, but now we are waiting for fact. The first objectives are ending the war in Iraq, which was started to stop terrorism (but it’s hard to believe that was the only aim), tackling the economic crisis (started with subprime mortgages), and trying to overhaul the US health care system, probably making it public.
I suppose the electors of Obama, in particular common people, students, women and Afro-Americans, voted for him because he tried to listen to the problems of his fellow citizens. At present the US is one of the countries that hasn’t ratified Kyoto Protocol; joining is surely expected from Obama, who promised to safeguard the environment .

Hope in a positive change. On the 4th of November the Democratic party won an overwhelming election victory against the Republican one: Sen. Obama, the Illinois candidate had a great number of votes: he won with 338 against the 156 against Sen. McCain, from Arizona, his Republican opponent. The victory of the Afro-American senator brings the democratic party to power and means a change of view for the USA which has been ruled by an exponent of the Republican party for the last 8 years ( almost). George W. Bush, who was elected president in January 2001, will soon leave his political role with Obama.
The evening of the day of his election, Obama pronounced a speech to the crowds of Chicago which sounded very efficacious: many people shouted his name or cried and nodded at his words out of happiness. He spoke about the problems which America would face in the future and pointed out what he defined the true genius of the USA, hope in a positive change. Obama’s motto for his campaign was “yes, we can (change)”. It reminds me of the value of liberty and it is connected with the right of the pursuit for personal happiness which the USA should grant to its citizens. According to me Obama pronounced a moving speech: I have never listened to someone talking with such decision about values. However all he said were and remain words, they were not actions: I hope he will keep his promise and I wish Americans a good presidential term.
