Flatland is a science fiction book written by Edwin Abbott in 1884, but it is also the name of a two-dimensional world where the main character lives. In this world social rank is given by the number of sides of the geometric figures. The whole story is about a square who becomes aware of the existence of other dimensions such as Lineland and Pointland. These are one-dimensional worlds where lines and points live. The square talks to them and tries to convince them of the existence of his world. Later the square is visited by a sphere from a three-dimensional world who is able to convince the main character of the existence of his world. After this experience the square imagines the existence of infinite other dimensions. The book ends with the square imprisoned because of his theories. Reading this novel was very interesting and highlighted our mind limits.
