Lettorato game “Who’s top priority?”

Imagine a welfare panel (class 4A PNI) on a very tight budget. They have  to discuss, investigate and decide on 10 patients in need of expensive treatments and operations…

On their list they have Lucy, an emo girl who caught hepatitis B from drug-addicts; Joy, a 10-month old baby-girl who needs lung and heart transplant; Adrian, a suicidal husband and father who badly needs a change sex; Edith, an elderly lady in a coma; Frank an overweight chain-smoker who can’t live without a new liver; 5 people who won’t be able to go on working unless they are operated on their eyes (cataract); Earnest, a volunteer doctor who got leprosy in Africa; Jack, a teen skier who needs artificial legs; Gordon, a father of 5 who will die without a coronary by-pass and, last but not least, Todd, who wants to be a father in spite of his weak sperm due to years of heavy smoking, drinking and drug abuse…

After an hour’s hard work under lettore Nick Smith’s supervision the 4 A PNI committee produced the chart in the picture below.
The results? Look carefully to find out who is going to live. One more lesson will be necessary to find out why/why not the patients were given that chance.
