Comments by the students from class 3A (L.S. G.Bruno)
Giulia Canal: my best friends and I were dressed up as Greek gods wearing white robes, sandals, bracelets and earrings. There were masks of “Cattivissimo me”, pirates, Vikings, ballet dancers, nuns, popes, priests, pilots and clowns and many others.
Alvise Ardizzon: On the 1st March 2014, a lot of students celebrated Carnival at the “Giordano Bruno-Raimondo Franchetti ” secondary school.
All morning long a lot of students strutted up and down the hallway and along the corridors. Particularly during the break a lot of fancy costumes were seen!
It was really funny!
My friend Andrea Pranzo and I dressed up as two street sellers of counterfeit goods. We had this original idea only last Friday. Immediately we started looking for make up, clothes, necklaces, bracelets, hats and rugs at home.
We paraded during the break, and we also sold some bracelets! But there were also many other beautiful fancy costumes.
There were some pirates that raided the hall, some lovely dancers, a few nuns, four Teletubbies, Gandalf, a character from The Lord of the Rings, Assassin’s creed, and also some heroes like Flash and Superman from classical comics.
We took a lot of photos of those and other fantastic costumes and we had a lot of fun!
Andrea Pranzo: my friend Alvise and I dressed up as two hawkers. In Venice we knickname “ Vuccumprà” (“Wanna buy?”) a street vendor who illegally sells fake designer goods at bargain prices.
We tried to sell, towels, umbrellas and bracelets without much success, probably the prices were too high!.
During the break every student strutted along the corridors and it was very funny to look at them. We always enjoy Carnival a lot and now, we’re looking forward to the next year!
Giorgio Maurizio: I came to school as Captain James T.Kirk from the Starship “USS Enterprise, who is a character of the TV series “Star Trek” I even met some members of my crew! Their costumes were better than mine, because mine was home made, but I did my very best to look nice!
Leonardo Carrer: in every corridor and in particular in the hall of the school you could see a lot of students who were dressed up. I saw some people who were dressed up as important movie characters or dancers.
Unfortunately I wasn’t dressed up because I didn’t have the time to prepare a nice fancy dress but next year I will dress up!

This year I didn’t dress up because I couldn’t find a good costume to represent how I feel. However I love Carnival because everybody can change their identities, I think that it is different to celebrate Carnival in Mestre or in Venice, because in Venice everyone dresses up: from local residents to tourists.
There is a feeling of celebration in Venice, while in Mestre only small children always dress up.
